Nahj ul-Balagha is one of the most important sources for understanding the Holy Quran. However, a significant portion of the existing research on the relationship between Nahj ul-Balagha and the Quran has primarily focused on the reflection of verses (such as citation, allusion, inclusion, and the like) and has paid less attention to the arbitrating capacity of this text in resolving exegetical disputes. The main issue addressed in the present article concerns how the words of Imam Ali (AS) can serve as a criterion and arbiter in cases of multiplicity or contradiction in interpretive readings, especially in monotheistic verses. The present study, employing an analytical-descriptive method and focusing on the realm of monotheism (Tawhid), first demonstrates the close connection between Nahj ul-Balagha and the Quran and the reflection of Alawi discourse in some of the exegeses of both Shia and Sunni schools. It then, by extracting arbitration strategies from Nahj ul-Balagha, examines the interpretive challenges of monotheistic topics. Accordingly, in subjects such as the meaning of "Samad", the vision of God (Ru'yat), divine wrath (Ghadab), "Wajh" and "Yad", "Istiwa' 'ala al-'Arsh", and divine speech (Kalam), the transcendental criteria of Nahj ul-Balagha clarify the acceptable limits of meaning, setting aside interpretations that lead to anthropomorphism (Tashbih) and corporealism (Tajsim), and reinforcing readings that are more compatible with transcendental monotheism. In addition to this strategy, explaining the relationship between essence and attributes and opposing determinism (Jabr) in Nahj ul-Balagha leads to arbitration in exegetical disputes concerning divine attributes and predestination (Qada' wa Qadar). The conclusion is that, in addition to its intertextual function, Nahj ul-Balagha possesses a methodical capacity for organizing interpretive disputes in monotheistic verses and playing an arbitrating role in preferring or restricting meaning.
