Family environment will affect the formation character of Imam Ali

Abstract

Man's character is one of the most important subjects in epistemology. Character is the product of man's internal factors and actions, and governs the fundamental principles of the inner world. As a result, man has the highest status among the worldly creatures. He is created from soil and has the ability of reasoning. In addition, he is the confection of opposite forces, various mixtures and different feelings which schematize his character. Perfection and reaching levels of evaluation and preventing any slough or falling down from those levels are the results of knowing about character's dimension, and his growing and preventing factors of perfection.  One of the most important sources for studying about man's character is Imam Ali's speeches. He considers man's character as a selection of the two parts of  reason and  lust, which man's felicity  and affliction is depend on  how he use these parts. From his point of view the factors that can be effective in shaping a character are: family, milieu and freewill.   None of these factors is considered as the complete cause of character's growth individually, but all of them together affect the quality of forming the character. The first and the most influence on character is belonged to family including parents; at the beginning, this is the family that organizes man's training scheme. So it has a permanent importance, in addition there is no way for survival and perpetuate of society, civilization and culture
