Abstract

According to letter 53 of Nahj al-Balagha, the desired model of governance in Islam is based on justice, piety, populism, and peacemaking. In this model, the ruler should be a just, pious, knowledgeable, and efficient individual who strives to ensure the welfare and comfort of the people. Additionally, the ruler should respect the opinions of the people and consult with them in decision-making. Considering the importance of governance in the Islamic system, the present research aims to develop a governance model based on letter 53 of Nahj al-Balagha. In an effort to present a desirable governance model by examining the library in Letter 53 and utilizing the method of content analysis, the governance model based on Letter 53 of Nahj al-Balagha is presented in "8 dimensions": a) principles and foundations of governance in Islam, b) characteristics of the ruler, c) government and governance, d) military, e) judges and judiciary, f) social justice, g) treasury and financial affairs, and h) relations with other nations, providing "27 concepts" and "212 indicators" as an inspiring source and guidance for the advancement of government and management of countries that can contribute to "governance development", "enhancing social justice", and "sustainable development".
