A Stylistic study of "Al-Ashbah Sermon" in Nahj Al Balaghah

Abstract


Stylistics is one of the literary topics that the literati and writers have had a special attention to it during the past decade. Literary style is a method or a special way of expressing thoughts that the writer or the narrator tries to transfer his ideas and thoughts about the realities through selecting words, terms and specific interpretations. Amir-al-Moemenin has expressed his intended moral, divine and social concepts artistically and in the best words, using rhetorical techniques. Among the sermons and letters, it is the sermon 91 of Nahj-Al-Balaghah that is called Al-Ashbah in which Imam Ali expresses various topics like Creation of Heavens, Creation of Angels, and God`s Knowledge. In this research, with a descriptive-analytic method, the sermon 91 is studied stylistically from four perspectives: phonetic, syntactic, implicit and intellectual and the beauties, values and style of this sermon are expressed..
